The media is responsible for many teenagers having poor self-esteem. Teenagers feel it requisite to have six packs and well-defined muscles bulging even in their early teens. They do not realise many of the actors playing the role of teenagers are in fact in their twenties. They do not realise many of these actors spend a lot of time working out. All they see is they do not look the same no matter how hard they work out.

If your teenager shows an interest in developing well-defined muscles, they need to be taught the basics of good nutrition. They need to incorporate on exercising more, doing a collection of exercises and not limiting their intake of healthy foods.
It is a good idea to teach them the basics of nutrition, calorie supervision and healthy exercise. If the weight training and dieting is just a fad, they will come away with requisite lifelong healthy living facts. If weight training is not a fad, they will be able to go on with the basic knowledge, which will help them to remain healthy throughout their training.
